- GN> Crap that once was heralded as the most powerful home computer with the
- GN> best price on the market?
-
- By whom?
-
- GN> In todays market, sure it is lacking but that is why AT are putting
- GN> out the A1200+
-
- No, they're putting it out because they think it can be extremely
- profitable without them having to do a lick of R&D work when they can't
- afford to do so.
-
- GN> Actually I am not even an A1200 owner though I do have experience with
- GN> and knowledge of the A1200.
-
- So, in other words, we have two people arguing about the 1200 who don't
- even own one. George, let's just forget about this, okay?
-
- GN> >George. I'm going to go on criticizing the 1200 until its engineering

-
- GN> The A1200+ could possibly be much better but the current A1200 will never
- GN> be changed. Why are you crapping on this machine anyways?
-
- Because there are people here calling it the greatest thing since
- sliced bread, when manifestly, it isn't.
-
- GN> You say you own an A2000, wouldn't it be much more wise for you to
- GN> upgrade to a more reasonably priced A4000t (when they are available)
- GN> then downgrade (expansion wise) to an A1200?
-
- Bingo. That's why I'm not planning on buying a
- 1200/1200+/1300/whatever. Its expansion capabilities leave it lacking
- to do serious computer work. Even with SIMM slots, there'll still be
- heavy problems.
-
- GN> Sure the A1200 stock is out of date now and has some quirks..
-
- Just want to clarify what you mean here. Do you mean "the A1200 stock"
- or "a stock A1200"? I presume the latter. No insult, just trying to
- understand your statement.
-
- GN> this argument will be moot ayways when the A1200+ comes out...
-
- No, it won't. You can put the body of a Porsche on a VW engine, but
- it'll still run like a VW...
-
- GN> but more then likely you will find something new to crap on
- GN> as that seems to be the type of person you are.
-
- No, I'm going to keep crapping on AT management, and gormless
- enthusiasts who think that every burp that comes out of AT's mouth is
- the word of God (no, not you, Gary) without a little thought going into
- the typing.
-
- GN> I meant without the A1200 and A4000t there would be no new video toaster
- GN> for example when it came out, there would be less Amigas and Amigans out
- GN> there and the interest in the technology would have faded to the point
- GN> that no would would want to buy it to continue developing it thus no need
- GN> for the Team Amiga that you claim to be a part of.
-
- "Claim"? You're not on Fido, George. Otherwise, you'd know that there
- really IS a Team Amiga, and I really AM a member of it. Gary, can you
- verify this fact for him?
-
- GN> Because you are going after 1 of the 2 current Amiga models in
- GN> production,
-
- No, I'm going after a total of two of the computers in the line: the
- 600 and 1200, and only one of those is still in production.
-
- GN> one of which, the one you are crapping on, is the one (until
- GN> the A1200+ comes out) that will be able to be afforded by the masses to
- GN> do an adequate job as an entry level computer and will get Amigas and the
- GN> name into the homes faster then an A4000t and the future Power Amiga
- GN> would.
-
- Oh, the old "get computers to the proles" argument. This goes back to
- one of the first questions that I asked Gary, which hasn't really been
- answered: is AT certain there IS an entry level market in NA?
-
- GN> I bet if you were a salesmen in an Escom shop, you would be one of those
- GN> ones that would rather sell someone a PC over an A1200 even if you were
- GN> hired to sell Amigas.
-
- Now what kind of logic is that? I'd never recommend a purchase of a PC
- over that of an Amiga, even a 1200.
-
- GN> P.S. Jesus Gary, is he like this all the time? :)
-
- I'll save Gary the answer: yes.
